X-ray examinations

Dental X-rays are taken for diagnostic purposes or for therapeutic treatment. Dental X-rays are needed when one or more dental crowns and roots are taken.

Dental X-rays show the length of the root canals, their location and the caries of the tooth.

A digital panoramic picture of the mouth (orthopantomogram) shows the overall flat view of the upper and lower jaw and the maxillary sinuses. A panoramic mouth picture is taken when:

•     when surgical removal of mental and retinal teeth is planned;
•     when orthodontic treatment is planned;
•     major prosthetic work is planned;
•     periodontal assessment is required.
